Career

After graduating, Jeff began working in the Natural gas industry. This type of shift-work and constantly living by the sound of the horn gave Jeff the insight that this type of work and lifestyle wasn’t for him. He heard other workers constantly complaining and learned quickly what he didn’t want to be.  At the young age of 20 he decided to take matters into his own hands and create the life he wanted, a life where he got to call the shots.  He knew he wanted more. His ambition and drive inspired him to dive deeper into the management side of business. Jeff began taking management courses, managed a region for a large service company, and went on to earn the prestigious honour of top salesman of the company 4 years in a row. Selling is no easy feat, but one that Jeff excelled at with his personable and positive demeanor.

Jeff embarked on his first stint as a business owner when he purchased a service company. With just a few employees, Jeff put in a lot of hours himself. He learned the ins and outs of cash flow, bookkeeping, and business scaling.

While cutting his teeth on business in these companies and learning a variety of critical business skills, Jeff spent time reflecting on his true purpose and passion in life and what he wanted to do next.

Jeff embarked on his first stint as a business owner when he purchased a few service vehicles geared towards the fire and flood restoration industry. This type of business didn’t exist at the time in the 1990’s, so this pivot was monumental in the restoration niche. He saw a need and acted on it, ABK Fire and Flood Restoration grew into a multi-location, well-known business with hundreds of staff.  This one company became the vehicle for starting other companies such as BurnMac Services (a franchise model), Expert Author Publishing and NorHaz Solutions.  Through these experiences, Jeff had an undeniable desire to pursue even more. He learned that with the right people, you can create something amazing that can have a 10X impact and create more wealth.

“If you don’t make plans for yourself, guess what others have planned for you?”

– Jim Rohn

Early on in Jeff’s business life he was a constant reader of nonfiction self help and business books from that he co-founded Expert Author Publishing, a business focused on teaching others how to write and publish books.  Jeff and his business partner put out many products and seminars, coaching new authors and entrepreneurs to build their brand.

In 2006, they published their first book “101 Reasons Why You Must Write a Book: How to Make a 6 Figure Income by Writing and Publishing.” In 2012, their second book was published, called “Change One Belief: Inspirational Stories of How Changing One Belief Can Transform Your Life.” There are now several successful titles under the name Expert Author Publishing.

As a business growth expert and serial entrepreneur who never stopped learning, networking, serving people, and growing both personally and professionally, Jeff acquired skills that propelled him into his career as a business mentor and coach. He learned the power of humility, being a sociable person, and empathizing with others. He operates on the notion that being a person who cares about others is what people truly want, above money, success, and accolades.

Mentorship & Coaching

Through these experiences in business and entrepreneurship, Jeff naturally became a mentor to many employees. He built his businesses on company culture and building people up. He credits his success to this focus on company culture, personal connections, and simply listening to others. After deciding to sell his companies to a private equity firm, Jeff took the leap to pursue a career in business mentoring and coaching.

He believes in the power of surrounding yourself with great people who lift you up, which is why he is passionate about being a trusted mentor to others. One of his top tips  for aspiring entrepreneurs is to find a mentor that you can talk to daily about the ups and downs of business.

Jeff’s dedication to family and raising 4 children of his own who have gone on to be successful, healthy, and happy entrepreneurs has helped him connect with other business owners who want the same for their families – to be present while building successful, thriving businesses.

“Would you rather be right or successful?”

His philosophy as a business coach is that to have a balanced life, you have to marry business and family together, but you also must know when to shut off business and be solely focused on family. He believes that you have to be honest with yourself and ask, “Is this for me right now?”

Jeff knows firsthand what it takes to marry these two aspects of life together. He’s been there, in the trenches, building multiple successful businesses while raising a family. He’s made sacrifices and choices that guided himself and his family towards the life they desired. His deep understanding, life lessons, and outlook on life inspire the way he mentors and coaches his entrepreneur clients.

True to his word, Jeff teaches that if you want a business that builds a vehicle for a lifestyle, you have to have patience, empathy, and humility. You have to be there for others, listen to them, network, and always be a lifelong learner who is not afraid to ask for help.

Jeff’s life’s work is scaling businesses, mentoring high-growth entrepreneurs, and serving people. Now as a top business advisor for 8-figure revenue companies, he is leading the way for other aspiring entrepreneurs as a mentor and coach. He is dedicated to helping business owners uncover their unique talents and share them with the world so they can have a lasting impact while also creating wealth and a life that they love.

“To me, success is building a life and having the business work for you versus you always being in it.”
